Caramelized Apple Tarte Tatin
What does it include?
Ingredients
- 300 g puff pastry
- Flour to sprinkle
- 6 Braeburn or Golden apples
- 100g sugar
- 85g butter
How to prepare it step by step?
Preparation
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 3 mm. Cut a 24 cm circle, prick lightly with a fork, and set aside covered while the apples are prepared.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C with fan). Peel, core, and cut the apples into quarters.
- Place the sugar in a heavy-based oven-safe frying pan over medium-high heat. Let it melt and form an amber caramel, approximately 5-7 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the cold butter in cubes, mixing until combined.
- Add the apples to the caramel and arrange them evenly. Place the puff pastry on the apples, slightly tucking the edges inward.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the dough is golden and crispy. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. Carefully turn out onto a large warm serving plate.
