How to prepare it step by step?
Preparation
- Take the knafeh in a bowl and cut them into large pieces.
- Pour in the melted butter along with the yellow food coloring and mix well with your hands until the knafeh is completely coated.
- In a separate container, mix the milk, cream cheese, sugar, and corn flour until you obtain a homogeneous cream without lumps.
- Grate or cut the mozzarella into small pieces to facilitate even melting during cooking.
- In an oven-safe mold or pan, spread half of the knafeh evenly, pressing lightly to form a compact base.
- Spread the cheese mixture over the knafeh base, making sure to cover the entire surface evenly.
- Add the mozzarella evenly over the creamy mixture.
- Top with the rest of the knafeh, pressing gently to seal the filling.
- Bake at 180°C until the surface is golden and crispy and the inside is melted.
- While it bakes, prepare the syrup by heating the sugar and water until it boils and the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the lemon juice and rose water to the syrup, mix well and remove from heat.
- Pour the hot syrup evenly over the kunafeh just out of the oven.
- Let it sit for a few minutes before serving so that the syrup is properly absorbed.
